Interview with Palisade Radio on the Kitco Site

April 26, 2016

In late January I was interviewed by Palisade Radio, a transcript of which is sitting on the kitco site. The interview took place at the Cambridge Show in Vancouver where Fission Uranium was exhibiting.

On conferences

The host was Collin Kettel and he made a comment early on in the interview that there aren’t as many conferences these days and I agree, there are less at the moment. However, that will change quickly when the resources sector picks up again. In the meantime, the shows that remain have become more important than ever. Investor conferences are a rare opportunity for investors and company management to meet face to face. Phone calls and the online world are great but they still can’t beat physical, in-person conversations. They are also useful for meeting up with everyone else who’s in the business. As I pointed out in the interview, deals are cut eye to eye.

We spent quite a bit of time discussing PLS and the Triple R deposit and I reiterated what I’ve said before about the importance of having the right economics. With a shallow, high-grade deposit and preliminary economics in the form of our PEA, the PLS project has a lot going for it. Indeed, the strength of the project brought CGN Mining to the table with the outcome that they invested $82 million in Fission at a premium of $0.85. All this at a time of depressed uranium prices.

The price of uranium

Unsurprisingly, Colin asked me about uranium prices and what I think will happen. I can’t predict the future but I believe the long term uranium market has very strong fundamentals. I pointed out that utilities have not been contracting their normal quantities. These guys are the primary users of uranium so we really are waiting on the buying to get back to its previous levels.
